My name is Ellen Schlobohm, I’m a South Australian based artist who has been working in paper for the last five years. I started papercutting in high school where I was inspired by a beautiful book called ‘This is for you’ by UK papercut artist Rob Ryan. From there I continued to develop my practice, having several SALA shows, an exhibition at Urban Cow Gallery and artwork in the Urban Cow Studio. My work is created by meticulously cutting away paper to leave behind delicate tableaus. It is often whimsical in nature with the inclusion of text to give it a contemporary slant. I am drawn to paper as a medium for its simplicity and delicate nature and love to watch this humble material come alive as each cut is made and the image revealed. My work ranges in size and style and whilst I primarily create papercuts I often explore other artistic avenues including  screenprints and lights.

The works featured in the gallery are a mixture of past and current work. Some of the pieces are available for sale so if a particular piece strikes your fancy you are welcome to contact me about it. I also do private and commercial commissions. I have found that a personalised papercut makes a unique and lovely wedding or birthday gift and am happy to discuss any ideas you might have. I love to be a part of people’s special occasions and am a hopeless romantic at heart! Please contact me if you any have any inquiries about commissions.
